Somewhere in the middle of nowhere in the south, there's a place where the bee-hive hairdo is still the rage and Saturday nights are reserved for the tractor pull in nearby Pickler. A colorful collection of good ole' country folk gather 'round for this year's county fair, and there's stiff competition in the arts and crafts category.

Faith County enjoyed a thirty-five week run on WLYX and was featured on the television special, "Dateline."

Premiere Production: Faith County was first produced March 2nd, 1991 by the Foundation of Arts at The Forum Theatre, Jonesboro, AR.

  • Casting Notes: The characters in this play are real people, not caricatures, who should be played with sincerity.

  • MILDRED CARSON - 50ish busybody of Mineola who makes everyone else's business her business and doesn't mind telling you exactly what you should do, when you should do it, and who you should do it with.

  • FAYE McFAYE - Late 20s. Flirty young checker at the A&P and town tramp. Spends a great deal of time writing bad poetry and may be described as Early White Trash.

  • RUTHANN BARNS - 40ish. Wife of Reverend Ezekiel Barns and local Moral Majority leader.

  • NAOMI FARKLE - 40ish. Mildred's best friend and worst enemy. Owns the Bee-Luv-Lee Beauty Salon and local ceramics expert.

  • DELBERT FINK - 30ish. Local pig farmer and the object of Faye's affections, a feeling which he does not return nor encourage.

  • LUTHER CARSON - 40ish. Mildred's cousin, Naomi's beau and owner of "Luther's Lube and Tune."

  • VIOLET - 25-28. Everyone's favorite and the only person in Mineola with any sense.

  • GLADYS PIMBLETON - 55ish. The eccentric First Lady of Mineola who drinks a bit too much.

  • BUBBA BEDFORD - Late 20s. Mineola's "village idiot" who works at "Bubba's Gas 'n Go" and always looks like a crawled out from under a car.
