Author's Bio

Nominated as one of Creative Black Country's prestigious 100 Masters, David Tristram is one of the UK's most popular and performed comedy playwrights. On average, one of his 29 published comedies is being performed somewhere in the world every single day. His work has been translated into many languages, including professional productions in South Africa, Mexico, Turkey, Italy, Germany, The Netherlands, France, Australia, Greece and Malaysia.

He's also written a comedy novel, A Bolt from the Blue, and a musical, Sex, Drugs & Rick and Noel.

For the past six years he's been the writer and producer behind the Black Country comedy character “Doreen,” who, following a viral video on YouTube, went on to produce five sell-out one-woman shows, three books (including an autobiography and a children's book), and a full-length movie (featuring a cameo from Led Zeppelin rock legend Robert Plant). Doreen was voted Midlands Entertainment Personality of the Year by What's On readers, despite being shortlisted against world-famous stars such as Lenny Henry, Dame Julie Walters and Beverley Knight.

David has also successfully collaborated over the past four years with Qdos – the world's biggest panto company – to write Doreen's character parts, resulting in her winning Best Newcomer at the Great British Panto Awards, and last year starring in Michael Harrison's production of Snow White at the Birmingham Hippodrome, which also went on to win Best Pantomime.
