Bill Fast, an old gentleman, has lost the great love of his life, his wife. He finds a surrogate for her in a young waitress, Cara. She so reminds him of his lost love that he finds himself falling in love with her and, in effect, with his wife all over again. When he begins to pay attention to Cara and spend money on her, his old sister becomes jealous and afraid, jealous because certain affections are not going to her and afraid that she won't inherit brother Bill's considerable estate. The conclusion is sad but happy at the same time.
