He celebrated the extraordinary lives of ordinary folk, and whether through comedy or pathos, reminded us of a shared emotional heritage. Premiere Production: Lies & Legends: The Musical Stories of Harry Chapin opened off-Broadway at the Village Gate on April 24, 1985. Directed by Sam Weisman, the production featured Mark Fotopoulos, Joanna Glushak, John Herrera, Terri Klausner, Ron Orbach and Martin Vidnovic.
