Premiere Production: A Christmas Pudding II, the second Pudding, was published several years after the first A Christmas Pudding was performed. Various versions of A Christmas Pudding have been performed, and joyfully received over the past 18 years in Los Angeles with proceeds benefiting People Assisting the Homeless.
  • Casting: 3M, 3F
  • Casting Attributes: Not Applicable
  • Casting Notes: The Pudding ensemble includes four to six actors, two to three women, a range of ages, 20-35, 35-50, 50+. And two to three men same age ranges. Ideally all should be able to handle challenging texts. Most require a level of skill, and ability to do a character. Director's judgement.
  • Chorus Size: Medium

Actors create characters that are appropriate for the selected pieces, playing a variety of ages and types; with actors reading every age, old and young, and every type. But, as in any good show, the characters must be done well! The single requirement is to make the piece work, whether it's by Dickens or George Washington. The poem or story or recipe - there's a wonderful recipe for Fruitcake which is never finished because the 'chef' finally passes out - must be well played.

Singers can number two to six or more. Whatever works for your situation. The music, should be chosen for your singers, their experience and training, from classical choral pieces to traditional carols, solos, duets, blues, spirituals; what is best for you and your 'Consort' or soloist.
