Fortune 500 business tycoon Roger Cabot has given up his power and possessions for a bohemian life in a loft in New York City to become the artist he always wanted to be. But not everyone is happy with Roger's new lifestyle.

Richard Borman (Roger's business protégé) is convinced that Roger's surreal, erotic paintings, his frolics with female models, his cultivation of a Zen rock garden, and, worse, his development of a strange ability to see sounds amounts to evidence of insanity. Persuaded by Richard, Rebecca (Roger's only child and Richard's fiancée) agrees to a plan designed to return Roger to the man he once was.

In the end, schemes and dreams are revealed, and everyone gets what they deserve in this farcical comedy that is fast and furious and great fun along the way.

Premiere Production: Premiered at the New England Actors Theatre, New Haven, CT.
  • Casting: 4M, 3F

  • ROGER CABOT - 50; a Fortune 500 company president turned bohemian painter. Has a rare condition in which he sees sounds. Always dynamic with a sharp sense of humor. Quirky in Act I: acts the calculating businessman in Act II. (Note: Synesthesia is a real neurological condition in which two senses are cross-wired.)
  • REBECCA CABOT - Early to mid-20's; Roger's daughter. Pretty, sweet and sincere. Initially uncertain and timid, she progressively grows more self-assured.
  • RICHARD BORMAN - 34; Roger's right-hand man in business and Rebecca's fiancee. Handsome and manicured. Is critical of the bohemian Roger out of Roger's presence, but more of a yes-man in his presence. Admires his mentor, Roger Cabot, and will do anything to return Roger to the conniving, calculating businessman he once was. He learns to sorely regret this ambition.
  • JASON STEWART - 34; a neurosurgeon hired to cure Roger. Attractive and very sincere. A former fraternity brother of Richard's. Very clumsy around the woman he loves -- namely -- Rebecca.
  • ABIGAIL EVANS - Early 40's; a tabloid journalist hired by Jason to ghost-write his book. Attractive, good figure. Sarcastic, but a romantic underneath.
  • AVIS HARPINGER - 30-35; a lawyer and Jason's fiancee. Tall, slum, beautiful, self-centered, and calculating.
  • THOMAS THOMAS - (pronounced "toe-MAS - toe-MAS") 30's to 40's; a gay art gallery owner; friendly and delightful, but knows the bottom line.
