When 17-year-old Leyla finds out that she's pregnant, she smashes her violin to pieces – but she isn't quite ready to let go of her baby; the product of a sexual assault by a religious leader.
The play moves between past and present, allowing glimpses into Leyla's life throughout the pregnancy as well as her first meeting with her newborn daughter Chloe as she struggles with her decision to give her up for adoption. Leyla's story is one of love and loss, of hope but also of a heart-wrenching decision.
Although dealing with a difficult subject, this play is not without a few smiles during a journey of discovery, of friendship, of the healing powers of music, of coming of age, and of the unconditional bonds of love between a mother and her child, regardless of circumstance.
