It is set in the Creative Room where a flamboyant TV commercial writing, an alcoholic artist, a flippant girl Friday, and their beloved leader, the Creative Director, engage in a running feud with the new president of the company, an efficiency expert, the office boy and everyone else who dares to interfere with their off beat rules of office conduct.

Premiere Production: The Whole Darn Shooting Match was first produced by the Tulsa Little Theatre in Tulsa, Oklahoma, on October 11th, 1962.

  • JAY BARKER - age 42 - rugged, determined head of the Creative Department; offhand in manner and dedicated to his job.
    ELAINE STOWE - age 36 - attritive, flippant Girl Friday who has developed a brittle and efficient exterior that masks a soft and warm interior.
    ALAN SCOTT - age 30 - a television writer; slight of build and wiry; crew cut; completely zany, uninhibited, flamboyant; smokes slender cigars; makes everything a big production.
    GORDON DAY - age 35 - commercial artist; Alan's sidekick; resigned to an unhappy home life, his escape is alternately the Creative Room and alcohol.
    KEITH LEFFLER - age 23 - a college graduate student; good-looking, clean-cut; buoyant and enthusiastic, containing the eager fires of youthful energy and curiosity.
    DORIS BEEMAN - age 20 - a college girl, bright, quick, and alert; attractive and wholesome looking.
    ROSE FREMISH - age 25 - atrocious taste in dress; a brunette; her voice has a touch of nasality that penetrates rather than communicates; a chronic whiner who doesn't mind her own business.
    ORREN STIGGLER - age 28 - Public Relations man who tries to be an efficiency expert; he is husky and overbearing; overloaded with self-importance, he is pompous and petty.
    ARCH McDERMOTT - age 40 - the Production Manager; a flashy dresser who fancies himself in great demand as a real lover.
    CHRIS HADLEY - age 60 - a philosophic janitor; a real New Englander who takes his time and lets nothing bother him; he likes to talk and he likes the people in the Creative Department.
    HARRISON KENDRING - age 54 - President of the Company; a high-blood-pressure, apoplectic type who bullies his way and has always disliked people in the Creative Department.
    EDDIE BILLICK - age 19 - the office boy; a smart-alecky, swaggering, obnoxious kid who thinks the world owes him a living.
    LYLE STANCLIFFE - age 50 - Madison Avenue ad man; distinguished-looking, tall, thin, aesthetic type; a snob with no sense of humor, who thinks his way is the only way.
    LT. COL. MORTON WILLING - age 44 - genial and modest, but easily flattered; a voice with timbre and authority.
    WOMEN'S BREAKFAST CLUB - an odd assortment of women ranging in ages from 40 to 60.
