School Musicals by Andrew Lloyd Webber
7 Jun

When Sunset Boulevard joined School of Rock, CATS and The Phantom of The Opera in February 2017 on Broadway, Andrew Lloyd Webber became the only person to equal the record set in 1953 by Rodgers and Hammerstein with four Broadway shows running concurrently.

With backing tracks, shorter running times, and other resources available, these Andrew Lloyd Webber shows are perfectly suited for young performers. So why not choose from one of the greats when planning your next show?

CATS (ABRIDGED)
Music by Andrew Lloyd Webber. Based on "Old Possum's Book of Practical Cats" by T.S. Eliot.
Short Musical, Rock Musical
CASTING: 8M, 6F, 4M or F

Since CATS first opened on the West End stage in 1981, it has become one of the world's best known and best loved musicals. Based on the universally popular poetry of T.S. Eliot, CATS tells the story, in song and dance, of the annual gathering of Jellicle Cats at which time one special cat is selected to ascend to the Heaviside layer.
The CATS Abridged Edition has been developed with junior groups and schools in mind and is available to groups with a performing age of 14 and under. The Abridged Edition Backing Track is approximately 75 minutes in length and has been developed with younger Jellicles in mind.

Music by Andrew Lloyd Webber. Lyrics by Tim Rice.
Short Musical, Rock Musical, Biblical
CASTING: 17M, 1F, 1M or F

The Biblical saga of Joseph and his coat of many colours comes to vibrant life in this delightful parable. Joseph, his father's favourite son, is a boy blessed with prophetic dreams. When he is sold into slavery by his jealous brothers and taken to Egypt, Joseph endures a series of adventures in which his spirit and humanity are continually challenged. Set to an engaging cornucopia of musical styles, from country-western and calypso to bubble-gum pop and rock 'n' roll, this Old Testament tale emerges both timely and timeless.
Developed with children of a junior age in mind, the running time of the Backing Track CD is approximately 60 minutes in length. This fantastic new resource, recorded with live musicians, has been created to add some Technicolor to your production!

Music by Andrew Lloyd Webber. Lyrics by Tim Rice.
Full Length Musical, Melodrama, 1930s - 1950s
CASTING: 3M, 2F, plus Ensemble

EVITA brings to life the dynamic, larger-than-life persona of Eva Peron. Beginning with a young and ambitious Eva, the production follows her meteoric rise to sainthood. The story tells of the enormous wealth and power she gained and the means by which she became the beloved Evita. Told through a compelling scores that fuses haunting chorales with exuberant Latin, pop and jazz influences, EVITA creates an arresting theatrical portrait as complex as the woman herself.
Realtime Music Solutions (RMS) are available to help perform a full theatrical version of this Tony Award-winning show. To make the most of EVITA in the classroom, an educational resource package is also available.
